Description

Sweet Air Fryer Churro Bites are a quick and easy dessert perfect for beginners. These bite-sized treats are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, coated in cinnamon sugar.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup and 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine water, butter, salt, and sugar. Bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat and gradually add flour, stirring until a smooth dough forms.
  2. Remove from heat and let the dough cool in a mixing bowl for 4-5 minutes.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the cooled dough. Mix with an electric hand mixer until smooth.
  4. Transfer the dough to a piping bag. Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Spray the air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray.
  5. Pipe bite-sized churros into the basket, avoiding overcrowding. Alternatively, drop spoonfuls of dough.
  6. Lightly brush the churros with melted butter. Cook for 10-12 minutes until golden brown. Cook in batches if necessary.
  7. In a shallow bowl, mix together sugar and cinnamon for the coating.
  8. Transfer cooked churros to the cinnamon sugar mixture and toss to coat evenly. Brush with melted butter or spray with water/nonstick spray if needed for better adhesion.
  9. Serve warm with your favorite dips like chocolate syrup, honey, or Nutella.

Notes

  • For best results, use a neutral nonstick cooking spray.
  • Ensure the dough is slightly cooled before adding the egg to prevent it from scrambling.
  • If you don’t have a piping bag, you can use a sturdy plastic bag with a corner snipped off.
  • Adjust cooking time based on the size of your churros and your air fryer model.
  • For extra cinnamon sugar adhesion, you can brush the churros with melted butter again before coating.
