Description
Sweet Air Fryer Churro Bites are a quick and easy dessert perfect for beginners. These bite-sized treats are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, coated in cinnamon sugar.
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup water
- 1/3 cup and 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for coating)
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine water, butter, salt, and sugar. Bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat and gradually add flour, stirring until a smooth dough forms.
- Remove from heat and let the dough cool in a mixing bowl for 4-5 minutes.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract to the cooled dough. Mix with an electric hand mixer until smooth.
- Transfer the dough to a piping bag. Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Spray the air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray.
- Pipe bite-sized churros into the basket, avoiding overcrowding. Alternatively, drop spoonfuls of dough.
- Lightly brush the churros with melted butter. Cook for 10-12 minutes until golden brown. Cook in batches if necessary.
- In a shallow bowl, mix together sugar and cinnamon for the coating.
- Transfer cooked churros to the cinnamon sugar mixture and toss to coat evenly. Brush with melted butter or spray with water/nonstick spray if needed for better adhesion.
- Serve warm with your favorite dips like chocolate syrup, honey, or Nutella.
Notes
- For best results, use a neutral nonstick cooking spray.
- Ensure the dough is slightly cooled before adding the egg to prevent it from scrambling.
- If you don’t have a piping bag, you can use a sturdy plastic bag with a corner snipped off.
- Adjust cooking time based on the size of your churros and your air fryer model.
- For extra cinnamon sugar adhesion, you can brush the churros with melted butter again before coating.
