Description

Air fryer chicken gyros feature juicy seasoned chicken, crispy homemade fries, and a creamy avocado tzatziki sauce for a high-protein, satisfying wrap.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken thighs cut into strips
  • 1/3 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • Zest and juice of 1 lemon
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 ripe avocado mashed
  • 1/3 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 English cucumber grated and moisture squeezed out
  • 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chopped dill or mint
  • 14 ounces russet potatoes cut into fries
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried mixed herbs
  • 4 pita breads
  • 1 tomato thinly sliced
  • 1/2 red onion thinly sliced
  • 1/2 avocado sliced


Instructions

  1. Mix yogurt, lemon zest, lemon juice, garlic, salt, pepper, paprika, oregano, and thyme in a bowl. Add chicken and coat evenly. Marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat the air fryer to 392°F. Arrange chicken in a single layer and air fry for 14 to 16 minutes, flipping halfway, until browned and cooked through to an internal temperature of 165°F. Rest briefly, then slice.
  3. Toss potatoes with olive oil and seasonings. Air fry at 320°F for 10 minutes, then increase to 356°F and cook for another 10 minutes until crisp and golden.
  4. Combine mashed avocado, yogurt, cucumber, vinegar, lemon juice, garlic, salt, pepper, and herbs in a bowl until smooth and creamy to make the tzatziki.
  5. Warm pita breads briefly in a dry pan or microwave.
  6. Spread avocado tzatziki on each pita. Top with chicken, fries, tomato, onion, and avocado slices.
  7. Fold and serve immediately.
