Description

Make crispy cinnamon sugar banana chips in your air fryer. This recipe uses only 4 ingredients for a perfectly healthy snack ready in 30 minutes with natural sweetness.

Ingredients

  • 3 firm ripe bananas
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil, melted
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Peel bananas and slice into uniform rounds about ⅘ to ¼ inch thick for even cooking.
  2. Place banana slices in a large bowl and drizzle with melted coconut oil and lemon juice, tossing gently to coat.
  3. Combine sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl, then sprinkle half the mixture over the banana slices and toss gently.
  4. Preheat air fryer to 300°F for 5 minutes.
  5. Arrange banana slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket without overlapping, working in batches if needed.
  6. Air fry for 12 minutes, then flip each chip and sprinkle with remaining cinnamon sugar.
  7. Continue cooking for 10 to 13 more minutes until chips are golden brown and crispy at the edges.
  8. Transfer chips to a wire rack and let cool completely for 10 minutes to achieve maximum crispness.
  9. Store cooled chips in an airtight container and consume within 3 days for food safety and best quality.

Notes

  • Replace coconut oil with melted butter or avocado oil for different flavor profiles.
  • Use coconut sugar instead of granulated sugar for a deeper caramel taste.
  • Add a pinch of nutmeg or cardamom to the cinnamon mixture for warming winter spice notes.
  • Skip the sugar and use just cinnamon with a touch of sea salt for a savory version.
  • Try plantains instead of bananas for a starchier, chip-like texture.
  • Choose bananas that are ripe but still firm for slices that hold their shape.
  • Slice bananas uniformly using a mandoline or sharp knife to ensure even crisping.
  • Resist opening the air fryer frequently, as this releases heat and extends cooking time.
  • Chips will crisp up significantly as they cool on the rack.
  • For extra crispy results, reduce temperature to 275°F and cook 5 minutes longer.
  • Store completely cooled chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. Avoid refrigeration.
  • Reheat chips at 275°F for 2 to 3 minutes if they lose crispness.
