Description
Ingredients
- 2 large Granny Smith apples peeled and cut into fry shaped sticks
- ¾ cup all purpose flour
- 1½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
- 2 large eggs
- Cooking spray
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for coating)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 to 2 tablespoons whole milk
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 325°F. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
- In a shallow bowl, whisk together the flour, cinnamon, and salt.
- In a second bowl, whisk the eggs until smooth.
- Working in small batches, coat the apple sticks in the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
- Dip the floured apples into the eggs, then return them to the flour mixture and coat again lightly.
- Arrange the apples in a single layer in the air fryer basket and spray the tops lightly with cooking spray.
- Air fry for 5 minutes, flip the apples, spray again, and cook another 5 minutes until lightly crisp and golden.
- Immediately toss the hot apple fries with the cinnamon sugar mixture so it adheres well.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth for the dip.
- Serve the apple fries warm with the vanilla dip.
Notes
- Serve immediately for the crispiest texture, as the coating softens as the apples cool.
