Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix the wet ingredients: vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, red food coloring, and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined.
  5. Pour half of the red velvet batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for about 15 minutes.
