Description
This oatmeal pie crust is buttery, lightly crunchy, and tastes like an oatmeal cookie. It is a simple crust perfect for cream pies.
Ingredients
- 1 cup quick cooking oats
- ⅓ cup all purpose flour
- ⅓ cup light brown sugar packed
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- ⅓ cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9 inch pie dish.
- In a medium bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt until evenly mixed.
- Add the cold butter cubes and cut them into the dry ingredients using a pastry cutter until coarse crumbs form.
- Press the mixture firmly into the bottom and evenly up the sides of the prepared pie dish.
- Bake for 13 to 15 minutes until the crust is lightly golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and, while warm, gently press the crust back up the sides if it has slid down.
- Cool completely before filling with your desired pie filling.
