- ¾ cup light brown sugar
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg + 1 egg yolk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×13″ baking pan with parchment paper or grease it.
- Melt the unsalted butter and mix it with light brown sugar and granulated sugar until well combined.
- Add one large egg and one egg yolk along with vanilla extract, stirring until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, mix baking soda, baking powder, salt, and all-purpose flour, then gradually add to the wet mixture.
- Fold in the flour mixture and then add semi-sweet chocolate chips, reserving some for topping.
- Press the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan and sprinkle reserved chocolate chips on top.
- Bake for 16-18 minutes until edges are lightly golden and center is just set.
- Cool completely in the pan, then lift out and slice into 24 squares.
