Description

This Amish style yumasetti casserole is creamy, hearty, and comforting with ground beef, noodles, peas, and a buttery crumb topping. It is perfect for family dinners, potlucks, or make-ahead meals.

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces egg noodles
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 medium yellow onion chopped
  • 2 cups frozen peas
  • 20 ounces cream of mushroom soup
  • 20 ounces cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups bread crumbs or panko
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9 by 13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the egg noodles in salted water according to package directions until just tender. Drain well.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion for 10 to 12 minutes until the beef is fully browned and the onion is soft. Drain excess fat.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the cooked noodles, beef mixture, frozen peas, cream of mushroom soup, cream of chicken soup, and sour cream. Stir until evenly mixed.
  5. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  6. In a small bowl, mix the bread crumbs with the melted butter until coated.
  7. Sprinkle the buttered crumbs evenly over the casserole.
  8. Cover tightly with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake an additional 15 to 20 minutes until heated through and the topping is golden brown. Ground beef must reach an internal temperature of 160°F before serving.
